Costumes, photography and filming
Loncon 3 will play host to a spectacular Masquerade, and some fabulous hall costumes. Find out more about both here. There will be opportunities for both filming and photography, but please make sure to read these guidelines.
We encourage any photographers to ask permission to take photos and to respect refusals. People in costume are often very good at striking the best pose to make your photos look great, so give them a chance to do that.
We will have an area dedicated to photography in the Exhibits Hall on Sunday, with a backdrop and lighting.
No flash photography during the masquerade!
We will film the masquerade, so it can be projected onto a large screen for the audience to see details, and to show it on a monitor backstage for entrants to watch. We hope to show this recording continuously in the Exhibits Hall after the masquerade, and you will be able to buy a copy if you like. We are unlikely to be able to stream it over the internet for copyright reasons.
During the judging interval, entrants will come on stage again and audience members can come to the front of the auditorium to take photos. As space for this may be limited, we may ask people interested in doing this to register at the masquerade desk in Exhibits on Friday and Saturday on a first-come, first-served basis. Keep an eye on the convention newsletter for more info.
Please see our Code of Conduct for more detail.
